Overview

Living in Cairo offers expats a vibrant mix of ancient history and modern energy, with affordable costs, diverse neighborhoods, and a welcoming international community. It’s a city of contrasts—chaotic traffic and bureaucracy balanced by rich culture, warm hospitality, and extraordinary value for money. Daily life is enriched by the presence of world-famous landmarks such as the Pyramids of Giza and the Nile River, alongside bustling markets, modern shopping malls, and lively cafés. Many expats settle in areas like Zamalek, Maadi, or New Cairo, which provide a balance of comfort, safety, and access to international schools and amenities. While challenges such as congestion and air quality exist, the city’s dynamic atmosphere, cultural depth, and strong sense of community make it a rewarding place to live and work. For teachers and professionals, Cairo offers not only career opportunities but also the chance to immerse themselves in one of the world’s most historically rich and fascinating cities.
