Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Specialist Chinese Teacher to join our British international school in Yangon, Myanmar, starting August 2026. You will deliver high-quality Mandarin language instruction that promotes fluency, confidence, and cultural appreciation. The ideal candidate:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mandarin Chinese, Chinese Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2–3 years’ teaching experience in Mandarin, ideally in an international or British curriculum school.
- Proficiency in both Mandarin and English.
- A proven ability to design creative, student-centred lessons that build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Experience preparing students for IGCSE or A-Level Chinese examinations is highly desirable.
- Strong classroom management, cultural sensitivity, and enthusiasm for contributing to school life beyond the classroom.
Core Responsibilities
- Teach Mandarin Chinese across primary and/or secondary levels, following the British international framework.
- Develop engaging lessons that promote language fluency and cultural appreciation.
- Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback.
- Contribute to curriculum design, school events, and language enrichment activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-cultural understanding across the school community.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to a positive, supportive teaching culture.
